Award-winning Irish public affairs company, Vulcan Consulting, goes from strength to strength with the appointment of two new key executives

1 March 2024

Vulcan Consulting has announced the appointment of a Director of Strategic Communications.  Sean Klein, former BBC Europe Bureaux Editor, will take up the role on 1st March.

Meanwhile Ian Fahey, former advisor to the Attorney General of Ireland, has been promoted to become the company’s Director of Public Affairs.

Both these roles are newly created and reflect Vulcan’s ongoing commitment to drive growth and outstanding service delivery across its offices in Dublin and Brussels – and further afield.

Sean and Ian will work closely with company founder and CEO, Lucinda Creighton, alongside the wider Vulcan team.

In his highly successful 20-year career at the BBC, Sean Klein managed the BBC’s large Europe news team across 28+ countries.  Throughout his time at the BBC, Sean covered breaking news stories, key moments in Europe’s recent history – and the continent’s presidential and parliamentary elections.  For the last ten years, Sean has been working as a conference moderator, media coach and communications strategy advisor for high-level clients across Europe.  He works in 3 languages.

Ian Fahey joined Vulcan as an Account Director two years ago, having previously worked as a parliamentary and policy advisor to an MEP, a government minister and to the Attorney General.  Since joining Vulcan, he has been an essential contributor to the company’s growth and success.  He will now work to grow and streamline the company’s public affairs offering to clients in Dublin, Brussels and beyond.

Vulcan CEO, Lucinda Creighton said:

“Vulcan Consulting provides trusted strategic advice to global corporate clients at the highest level.  It is therefore imperative that we have excellent people and excellent leaders in our ranks.  Sean Klein and Ian Fahey have proven professional track records and in these new roles they will ensure that Vulcan continues to grow and provide the best possible service to our clients.  Sean will lead an entirely new service offering for clients in the strategic communications area; while Ian will develop and grow our core and fundamental offerings in public policy and public affairs.

“I am proud and honoured to be able to work with two of the best in the business and to have them represent Vulcan on the global stage.”

Sean Klein added:

“I’m enormously proud to be joining this professional and dynamic team.  It will be a privilege to bring together my 30+ years’ experience of working in the media and communications sector to help drive forward and grow the outstanding services offered by Vulcan Consulting.  I’m relishing the prospect of working with the Vulcan team and with the company’s clients.  As a keen musician, I know only too well that success is about all the players performing their part in harmony – and when that happens, the results can be outstanding.  Encore to that!”

Ian Fahey said:

“I am honoured to take on this new role at such an exciting time of unprecedented growth for Vulcan Consulting. I look forward to working with our teams in Ireland and Brussels to ensure that we continue to deliver outstanding public affairs services to our clients. By this time next year, crucial elections will have taken place in Ireland, the European Union, the United States and the United Kingdom; and so there has never been a more opportune time for companies to engage with public stakeholders. In Vulcan, clients will find a partner who can help build resilience, navigate headwinds and amplify solutions.
